This was also a special week for us as we had Andy for the second time come in and song with Alisa and the check out how far we have come. Actually the first night was pretty good, so I don't know?
I prepared and distributed the first set setlist to everyone a few days before the jam giving us some preparation time to focus on what we know we would play. as Drew said, so much benefit for so little effort. yes, but the setlist felt a bit stiff to me. as I have trouble squeeing in songs that fit the need to utilize Alisa while she is here and to get her practice while making it a flowing setlist. Not too many repeats, but not to far from the beaten path. The Scarlet Fire and Jack Straw were additions to what was planned. Also the Music Never Stopped ending jam, which felt so wrong as it happened was quite as bad as we thought. There were some real nice vocal raps like the He's Gone and Around and Around.
Alisa and Andy bolted for the second set leaving me to play Drew's favorite pastime, Truckin, Other, Smokestack jams and we did so for 31 minutes and a multi song medley while throwing in the Spoonful and New Speedway to boot. It was quite the adventure and had many places to go with few rules to guide. I found my slide,, which was so missing during the Black Peter. That missing slide totally threw me off my game during the Peter. I made up for it during the Spoonful as I abused it during that part of the medley. The Althea and Deal to follow and close the night were confidently cozy and quality endings to a really nice night. It was so good we turned a no jam the following week into a full jam with everyone but Lee coming back for more.
