Deadstein's November 12, 2025 Jam: Core-4 Magic in Tribute to the Grateful Dead

2

Greetings, Deadsteinheads! Deadstein has been carrying the torch for the Grateful Dead's improvisational legacy since 1990, and our November 12, 2025 jam was a prime example of why we keep coming back week after week. Held at our longstanding New York spot, this session featured the standard Deadstein Core-4 lineup for 2025: Larry G on guitar and vocals, Kevin F on bass, Rich B. on keyboards and vocals, and Lee G. on drums. Together, they delivered a heartfelt tribute to the music of the Grateful Dead, blending tight arrangements with expansive jams that captured the essence of the band's golden era.

The Lineup and Vibe

The Core-4 brought their A-game, with Larry G channeling Jerry Garcia's melodic wizardry on guitar while handling lead vocals with soulful precision. Kevin F's bass provided the thunderous foundation, echoing Phil Lesh's innovative lines that drove the groove forward. Rich B. added layers of texture on keyboards, evoking the swirling Hammond organ sounds of Brent Mydland and Pigpen, and shared vocal duties to keep the harmonies rich. Lee G. on drums was the rhythmic heartbeat, laying down those Mickey Hart and Billy Kreutzmann-inspired patterns that allowed the music to breathe and evolve. The vibe was electric-intimate yet expansive, with the quartet locking in for moments of pure musical telepathy that had everyone in the room smiling.

Reflections and Thanks

Deadstein jams like this remind us that the Grateful Dead's music is more than songs-it's a living, breathing experience shared among friends. Thanks to the Core-4 for their dedication, and to all who joined us for the night. We're grateful for the community that keeps this tradition alive. Stay tuned for more setlists and dates on Deadstein.com-see you at the next one!
