Hello, fellow Deadsteinheads! If you're a fan of the Grateful Dead's timeless jams, then you know Deadstein has been keeping the spirit alive since 1990 with our weekly gatherings in New York. On October 22, 2025, we had another unforgettable session at our usual spot, channeling the magic of Jerry, Bobby, Phil, and the gang. This time, the lineup featured Drew holding down the fort solo on drums, Larry Gindoff and Andy Trsiter trading licks on guitars, and Kevin laying down the groovy bass lines. It was a night of pure improvisation and homage, proving once again why Deadstein is the go-to for authentic Dead tributes.
Drew's solo drumming was a highlight-he brought that Billy Kreutzmann energy with relentless rhythms that kept the energy high without overwhelming the mix. Larry and Andy on guitars were in perfect sync, weaving those signature Dead-style leads and rhythms. Larry's soulful phrasing evoked Jerry Garcia's touch, while Andy added some fiery Weir-inspired flair. Kevin on bass was the backbone, thumping out those Phil Lesh bombs that made the room vibrate. With no keys or additional percussion this time, the quartet stripped things back to basics, allowing for spacious, exploratory jams that felt straight out of a '70s Dead show.
As always, Deadstein isn't just about the music—it's about the community. A big shoutout to everyone who came out, shared stories, and kept the positive vibes flowing. If you missed this one, don't worry; we're back every week, jamming in tribute to the Dead. Check the site for upcoming dates and setlists. Keep on truckin'!
