Hello again, Deadsteinheads! Deadstein continues to honor the Grateful Dead's legendary sound with our weekly New York jams, a tradition stretching back to 1990. On November 24, 2025, we turned up the rhythm with a special double-drumming setup: Josh Rosen joining Drew Moss on drums to lay down that iconic Billy Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart foundation. Larry G handled guitar and vocals with his signature Garcia-esque flair, Rich Brotman brought the keys and vocals to life with swirling organ runs, and Kevin anchored it all on electric bass with deep, resonant grooves. The result? A high-energy session full of psychedelic explorations and tight ensemble playing that captured the Dead's rhythmic essence.
This jam's double drumming was the star, with Josh and Drew syncing up for polyrhythmic blasts that echoed the Grateful Dead's classic two-drummer era. Their interplay added layers of texture, allowing for thunderous builds and subtle nuances. Larry G's guitar work was inspired, trading melodic lines and soaring leads, while his vocals carried the emotional weight of the tunes. Rich Brotman on keyboards filled the space with Hammond swells and piano accents, sharing vocal harmonies that enriched the mix. Kevin's bass was the glue, dropping bombs and walking lines that kept the whole thing grounded yet adventurous. The vibe was communal and exploratory-pure Dead spirit in a cozy setting.
Nights like this reinforce why Deadstein exists-to keep the Grateful Dead's music alive through shared passion and improvisation. A huge thanks to Josh for guesting on drums, and to the core crew for another memorable jam. Shoutout to everyone who showed up and contributed to the positive energy.
