Scott Is Back But That's About It

After a week off, Scott was back on the throne, drumming away and great to see him there. Andy and Drew were still out and so was Rennie. That let me, Kevin and Rich joining Lee and Scott. We first started playing songs of the up coming May 11 Bitter End gig but all that ended with a It Takes A Lot To Laugh steering us to a more Jerry oriented jam for the rest of the night.

I decided to play my Rags the Guitar, Jerry Tiger wannabe and it never felt comfortable to me all night. I felt distorted, never clean and could get it to work for me. I had a struggle like I haven't had for what seems years. I kept moving on though and I don't think the recording is quite as bad as I felt playing it all. In addition, by the end of the night, Kevin bass was sounding pretty crunch, probably a dead battery.

With Scott still on the mend, he didn't sing at all leaving it all to Rich and I to sing. While the opening Jack Straw had Rich and I trade the Jerry and Bob parts. The rest of the night consisted of each of us singing the selected song on our own without any attempt to help each other out with harmonies. On the capturing perspective, I only had two camera setup, both with similar angles but different enough to allow you to see Scott somehow no matter where Kevin was standing. I look forward to next week when hopefully we are all back together, one last time to finalize and work on the setlist for the May 11, Bitter End show.

Freak Out!
