    Notes:

The fifth Monday night in a row with a sixth coming on December 2nd due to Larry's MCMUA meeting on Tuesday December 3rd. This night was going to have a weird feel to it because the drummers had to be at nursery school to about 8:00 p.m. so the string section decided to get there at the normal time, practice, be kind and eat. We worked on one half of a Lost Sailor, which paid big dividends during the jam and then got bored with the practice. Instead we decided to order food, Memphis Trio, be it a Monday night, so we could eat and then play the long ambitious one set extravaganza. Due to the different timing of everything. We had second set heads and stomachs on for the whole night.

Johnny danced for a while but the slow Comes an time, Crazy Fingers, Death Don't Have No mercy Trio was more than he could bear so he scadattled in the middle of the Death on his way to Florida. His departure he had a disturbing impact upon the band which prompted Larry B. to hit him over the head with a distortion pedal. The problem was no one could hear it over all the other distortion.

Kevin decided to move closer to the wall and his amp. It definitely made for a different sound. The music for the night was powerful complete, sometimes forced. Some may have to do with wacky acoustics, some may have to do with the use of my new used guitar effects, especially the chorus which has a hypnotizing effect on the overall sound. Whatever it was, it made for some pretty good music as usual.

I had a blast last night. I was loud, but the mix for my ears was execellent. LB seemed to be having a real good time. He had this look on his face at times that said, "can you fell this too?" I forget, what song did we go round for an LB solo twice (2nd time was looped with big LB feedback)? And how about that Rich solo during Aiko? I thought it was great, although maybe it should have been cut off a little earlier. I did like going back into a verse rather than a guitar solo.

    First Set Comments:

The Let the Good Time Roll was really well played the drums were solid and holding the song together. It could have been our best of that song yet. The West L.A. Fadeaway was memorable for me. I had this delay, chorus, feedback and slide thing going throughout the song that gave it a creepy sound but cool. I am still hearing that sound in my head as I type this article.

The Box of Rain started real well with good Larry B. and Rich harmonizing. The lead was pretty good. While the sailor/saint was very frantic and the Sailor wasn't at all relaxed like it should be, we got through the song, through the transition and we pulled off the saint. We obviously have played either of these songs in a long time and we never really learned the Sailor well so what we did accomplish was worthwhile. It was too bad we won't be able to get back to the Sailor for a while. It is nice doing the two together, it make you appreciate the flavors of Sailor that are in Saint. Our transition was surprising good into Saint. Even the playing of the verses in Saint were respectable and the end of the Saint lead was executed really well.

If there was a second set the Comes a time had the feel of a second set to it. It started a four set no stopper. The lead was great, too bad we didn't get a tap. Crazy fingers was poor, I think we were losing it a bit during it but we made it up during the Death which was really strong, Feedback was coming from all directions. The only flaw to it was the Johnny disturbance in saying good buy. The Around and Around was fair but had the good fast ending that was played well.

Last Time was a lot of fun and had its moments but the Standing on the Moon lived up to its reputation ad didn't disappoint. Might as Well to close we surprisingly good considering we really don't play that song. We played it true to form and it was exciting. A good closer to the night.

     Half Time Food & Comments:

We had to eat early in order to complete the jam. Larry B. Kevin, Johnny and I order a Monday night Memphis Trio. The half-sausage half plain pie was excellent. Johnny claims Brooklyn has better pizza but he hasn't produced it at a jam yet so we can believe him. Included in the Memphis order was also chicken roll, stromboli and garlic knots. There were pretty good. Drinks were sodas and grape Snapples. We had no desserts whatsoever as the two kids from nursery school arrived, as we were eating, eager to play. We will have to let Scott get the Gyros next week.

They eating before the gig had a nice impact, whether it can be repeated remains to be seen buy gyros before a jam never hurt anything. I say, "long live the Greeks!" or at least the human sewage that works at Gyro II

    Weather:

It was pretty nice in the room, the previous day they forecasted very cold so we were fortunate to be relatively warm considering it was November 25th. You could see the weather coming to the city as it rain real hard as I got further out into New Jersey.
