Election Day 1998, Not a good one for the GOP

First Set
  • Alabama Getaway->
  • Promised Land
  • Friend of the Devil
  • Cumberland Blues
  • Dark Star->
  • Playing in the Band->
  • Uncle John's Band->
  • Wharf Rat->
  • Playing in the Band
  • Casey Jones
Second Set
  • It's All Over Now
  • Tangled Up in Blue
  • Deal

Playing next week is Thurs.

I Pity The Freak
  • A magical brand type of night.  The music seemed to float out of its own recognition.
  • It was election day and it was miserable for the Grand Old Party.
  • Guests include Brenna and Andy's friend Terry.  Johnny slept early on but pulled off a good crust Delicioso meal.  Really good stuff.  Rice balls were a big hit, ziti in meat sauce, Crusty pie, pre-dressed salad and bread with extra butter.
  • Great music, Cumberland was sweet, so was the Devil.  The whole big song from Dark Star back into the Playing in the Band was big.
  • Dave was there for most of the first set but left for some Squeeze wannabe concert.  Tempted by the fruit of the crack of my ass.
  • Terry played guitar for the second set as Andy played drums with Scott during the It's All Over Now and I joined Scott for the Tangled Up and drummed solo during the Deal.  Just like one of Jerry's kids'.

Just testing the submission form and the top of the page should have said "Not a good one for the GOP" That's what you get for writing after midnight the night of a jam. You're lucky this stuff doesn't say:

jdfh8r fjkefj f f3ej3f f iuefhf fhjf fghegrf97843gijgh rhjkj gt gjr g rkjhrgk rg.

It's usually the sort of stuff what I feel like writing when I get home these days. The jams just poop me out. Especially that long Dark Star - Playing and more combo. That took the breath from me. Oh My!

I thought I was the only one that gets pooped after (during)a jam? I come in With what I believe "Energy" Then I don't know What happens after moments we all gather? I'll tell you what happens...LOT'S OF GOODNESS. I have never said anything negative about Freak boy before, BUT, This Business of Making me stop during a beutiful F.O.T.D. Demanding food money Will Never Happen Again!! That was un called for my fine freaky friend.

I voted for Freak Boy as Gov. In the state of Mass. That little tripster would certainly bring some good trippyness to the Statehouse. Keep jammin' Johnny Rules!! Miss you all! Eat Big & play spacey! steele

i dont know about anyone else but that dark star>jam>playing thing was just simply great....and i'm not talking about what it sounds like i havent heard a plyback. What i am talking about is that rollercoaster ride jam that 'is' what is great about us, there was no discussion of direction pace or tone....it just happened.....and it makes me say "musically this is where i want to be and i cant imagine that the rest of you felt any different, it just doesnt get better than that......i cant imagine plaing with any other group could allow that to be achieved. ps maybe we should collect food money pre-jam since we spend the same amount every week anyway

I'm not sure, but I think the previous post is the Seventh Sign Of The Apocalypse. Whether that is true or not really doesn't matter, because I agree with it whole-heartedly. The jamming/space function of Deadstein has always been our strong suit, and I think it is becoming stronger. It is maturing. We are growing musical pubic hair. We now have many more colors on our palette and the unconscious wisdom to use them tastefully. I also think, that it is becoming more and more effortless. I don't think anyone was "trying". I think it is flowing instinctually now, which is the ultimate goal. I guess 8 years will do that. The drums/bass have evolved from a 100,000 ton diesel engine, into a matter/anti-matter powered warp-drive engine. The experience of being thrust from a dead stand-still, to light speed in the flick-of-a-pick is frightening. I like it, I really like it. Kudos to my co-pilots, Scotty & Dave. Freakboy gave a decent showing, not a lot of dancing (or consciousness for that matter), but he did sing and order well. During his rare waking moments he was actually sociable and charming. Baby-steps Freakboy, keep it up.

It's post time. And they're off... No Brotman this week. I smell dress next week. Why? Because we like you. No, I mean I really smell dress next week. It smells like patchouli. OK everyone, to the tune of the Mickey Mouse Club theme song, F - R - E A - K - Y T - O - A - S - T ! That Apocalypse thing is happening. Love your brother. Metamorphasis dude. I mean like Messiah arrival. We are here. Hallelujah. Yay! Yippe-kay-yay! Let's do some acoustic next week. I'm bringing the marshmallows. Toasted. Blue sky and love abounds. By all that is holy, I've found the answers to life's most intiguing questions. They are found in the flavor of Deliciouso pizza crust. Ah yes, the sweet crust of Deliciouso pizza. It ain't like the flavor of the crust of my underwear I tells ya. Ramble On. Now's the time, the time is now. Sing my song. And the shephard said unto him. Go now. Be freaky. And spread the love of the land.

there is only one possible response to that....... what's an "intiguing" question and how is that pronounced is it in-ti-guing? or is it inti-guing? either way i'm sure it's in the dictionary and has something to do with the patterns on theneck apparel worn by the ny knicks center

Might As Well Do "Cream Puff War, Death Don't Have No Mercy, Sittin On Top Of The World, And Oh Yea' Masons Children. I'm With Ya Dave. I just got finished watching a video of Steve Marcus Interviewing Jerry, And Asked Him If Would Like To Bring Any Of The Above Songs Back Into The Rotation? He Said NAHHHH. Sound Familiar? Although the only tune they brought back after that interview was Here Comes Sunshine.
