The date of the next jam is scheduled for Thursday, September  20, 2001 I assume at Carolls.

It was an abbreviated week once again as a full Deadstein has not been together since the Banjofest in the summer.  All we had was Tom Banjo, Dave, Trister, Me and the return of Kevin.  No guests, just us chickens.  Trister dragged himself and his amp in through a down pour a showed up as a soaked mess.

This week also had the the first time use of my Roland VSR-880 8-track hard disk recorder and I recorded last night in full eight track beauty and it sounded good when I got home, only to be better after I mix it.   I can't believe it all worked so well and easily as I planned.  Say good-bye to the cracking DAT and hello to mixable tracks.

Till next Thursday.

ok - I'll rip her open - This day, the 11th of September, in the year of our Lord, 2001, will now be the day that cuts all of our lives in half. From now on, we will refer to our lives as Before and After the day the WTC was destroyed in a Terrorist attack. As I sit here and type this, you all know by now what has occured. 2 hi-jacked jets have crashed into the towers of the WTC, and they have both collapsed in as surreal a moment as any that Hollywood could have conjured up. Another hi-jacked jet has crashed into the Pentagon, causing a partial collapse and another crashed outside of Penn., destination unknown. There was also a car bomb exploded outside of the State Dep't in Washington. The White House, congress, and the entire Federal branch of the US has been evacuated, and all airports have been closed nationally. All bridges, roads and tunnels in and out of NY have been closed, a total evacution of D/T manhattan has been ordered. The Palestine Democratic Front for Liberation has taken credit, but no believes it..and the Hamas, has denied any responsibility. NY is all but under marshall law, and it will be some time before we are back to normal, let alone forget what has occurred. Many lives have been lost, property destroyed and with it, a sense of vulnerability may creep in, and it will make folks afraid of their shadows, neighbors and events for a long time to come. There was no way to stop this tragedy once the planes were hi-jacked; suicide pilots made sure of that. If only we had some fore-knowledge of what was to occurr, we may have had a chance, or people on the jets once aware of their fates, might have averted this disaster, as may be the case with that one crashed jet outside of Rural PA. We may not know the facts for a long time to come.

In other news, as minor as it is, It is a shame that Deadstein was only 5, but we ended up having an enjoyable and productive night. The jam into Eyes was grate. Dave was awesome, Kevin was a monster, Andy was sublime given his technical limitations (no gimicks or boxes) And the Gind was Grate! Sorry I aborted that Brothers and Sisters, but it had no spark with you singing it, Larry. A think a couple of songs are missing here, including another Black Throated Wind. Thanks for indulging me with a Comes a Time, and for waiting for me on the chorus. See you all next week/

now that it has been written for our public consumption of 13...let me make one correction...the year of OUR lord is 5762.....and i think its a good precedent---if you dont like the way a song is going just feel free to kill it, definately do not let the others have a go at it

Hey, C'mon Dave, Poisey just felt that Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw didn't explain the situation thoroughly enough. And let's face it, those wuss's had the help of an entire television network and the information gathered by on-the-scene professional reporters. Poisey has only his voice, which, while he loves to hear, decided to share with the rest of us...just in case we didn't know what was going on in our own backyards.

L'shana Tovah friends. Have a happy and healthy 5762. Yechi Hamelech

It was only me and Andy (on bass) and Larry Gindoff. Plus - precedent has been set many times before (dudes killing songs) Also, Deadstein has been marking the passage of time and history for almost 11 yr. It would have been a shame to NOT talk about what happened. Further, you want to debate the yr, bring in your calendars.

GOD doesn't care what year it is, only that you praise HIM. In the Name of the Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost, Amen.

I just heard from Carroll's. Our room booking for Thursday was rejected for the moment, since the place is supposedly full. I talked to Ray, and he is going to call the other book-ees and see if that is the case...This is not even taking into account whether we still wish to play.. Can we take a moment to say whether we are in or not, should we get a Room?

any trister will do as long as there's a voice of reason...i relent to percussion for scotts birthday only but deeply vote for carrolls and 2 drummers.....viva le round robin......on a philosphical note--pat robertson has stated that the reason this tragedy has befallen us is because we have given up prayer in school

will talk to Ray after 2PM. Carroll's is our first choice, of course.

Robertson and Falwell (who said that our "sinning and sinners" made God punish us..(not in so many words, but that was his jist) are boobs, and scary voices with audiences.

I hope that you had as happy a birthday as you could possibly have, Scotty, and I wish all my Jewish friends a peaceful and happy Holiday.
