The date of the next jam Wednesday February 7, 2001 at SIR Studios

Tonight fate would have us at Vinny's Rehearsal Space.  The 5th floor of some warehouse building with a slow elevator on 27th Street.  We had the big room which was very nice and roomy.  It was comfortable and worked very well and was relatively inexpensive.

Andy was 50/50 and didn't make it.  Dave also canceled at the last second.  Fortunately, Scott had his phone in hand and gave Larry Menaker a quick call and low-and-behold, he was there, right from work.  And it was good.  We had some nice tight grooves and builds.  It was good to see Larry.  Short of him, Tefillin Ken was the only guest.  He played guitar and sang 3 songs while I played drums on 2 of them..  Ken had some nice Mr. Charlie leads.

Uncle River flew.  Estimated was really tight.  We slipped up and got tied into a knot exiting the slipknot but made it nicely into Franklin's.  Overall a solid effort.

We played lots of songs and had little down time for the whole night.  We played big and hard, up and down.  We ate at the uppity Empire Diner which doesn't cater to diabetics or women or dieters.  It's tough to imagine.  What are they trying to prove.  Giants almost won the Superbowl last week and the weather was pretty nice.  Look forward to a big week next week at SIR.  I wouldn't miss it for a variety of reasons.  Least of which is the music.

"ll crack it open!

Kevin Forrester, shame on you for not telling anyone that Dave Schwartz was sick. Kevin, good work not telling anyone that dave was sick, because it allowed Scott to do grate work on finding Larry Maneker! Loads of energy, and he sat right down and filled it up! Hope to get DAve healthy for next week at SIR, but it is good to know that good musicians are a call away! Tefillin Ken!!!! Where were you since August(when I joined), good Buddy! Your Guitar work, and vocals were amazing! The mr Charlie, Ramble On Rose and Shinin Star were hot hot hot! All I remember is I Shall Be Released from the past, but you can bring it!

Highlights were the Estimated>Rat>Around squared! We nailed those to the wall! I want to take back the Stranger vocals, but other than that grate jam last night! Hey, Vinny's not a bad choice once we get DAT city out of our system! when the full band is there, 20 bucks a head is not bad for that nice big room with no hassles! Looking forward to Wednesday! BUT SAY NO THE EMPIRE DINER. That place thinks it is someplace special.

I think Vinny's has Deadstein written all over it. I agree with Gind, The equiptment is not top of the line, But the room sounded great and it had the space we need. Hey Kev, how did the tape come out. I'm assuming they had it all set to go, it's gotta sound pretty good. Price was right also. It was as always, a treat to have LM sittin in! Thanks Mr. Menaker. Until Wednesday.

Shame? Shame on me? You have obviously over-stepped your boundaries as the self-imposed-quasi-novo-commentator for the band. -- I have no shame ! As far as Meneker goes, I was playing with Meneker before you were embarrassed to tell people you are from Mill Basin. And hey, aren't you the best-childhood friend of Dave, shouldn't you have been aware your old buddy was under the weather. I am not Dave's keeper (if I was, my name would be Stanley Livingston and you would be Chumly.) Vinny's is good. You're right Scotty , I saw Deadstein written all over that kind coffee table. The jam was good. Quality and quantity. Yechezkel rocked. 'Ya didn't know kosher could be so tasty, did 'ya? I'm wearing a yellow ribbon until I see Trister again. Yoink.

Actually, Dave was not ill, yes, that's right! - he was with me in Boston drinkin' beeeerrzzz and shnookin' with strippers in the combat zone. Last I 'member - Dave was licking a (tangy but not overly) sweet duck sauce off a babe dancer's chest while reciting in an amazing clear and consice (considering his inebreation) "Not in Eye" "Not in Eye" OK In Eye - OK In eye. Next thing I know, I'm awakening to find right fkn in front of my face a picture taken many moons ago of my good buddy Johhn Freak Boy twirling through a GD parking lot (RFK 199?) with a sign held high proclaming for all to see "Got Dave?" I miss y'all- Steele

Thanks for the call Scott, I had a ball playing with you guys. Deadstein sounds great. It was terriffic seeing all of you. Kev, your volume was right on! Tommy Banjo flying around the room like a 6 1/2 foot tall jurrasic/butterfly/stork is surreal in its freaky qualities. Call me anytime to play. I really enjoyed it.

Kevin Says: "Shame? Shame on me? You have obviously over-stepped your boundaries as the self-imposed-quasi-novo-commentator for the band" I wasn't speaking for the band. Last time I checked, I can do a good enough job speaking for myself!. --

"I have no shame !" truer words have never been spoken.

" As far as Meneker goes, I was playing with Meneker before you were embarrassed to tell people you are from Mill Basin." Never embarrassed to say I was from Mill Basin. Only embarrassed when Mill Basin let you slip in so easily.

" And hey, aren't you the best-childhood friend of Dave, shouldn't you have been aware your old buddy was under the weather." He did not call me, he called you. that made YOU responsible in my eyes, not Deadstein's.

" I am not Dave's keeper (if I was, my name would be Stanley Livingston and you would be Chumly.)" Dr Livingston I presume? My name in not chumley, it would be Stanley.

Scotty says: "tommy b just doesn't understand, does he kev? That;s ok " Not entirely, but I am getting it!

It looks like we have a night of pure, unmitigated music tomorrow night. No disruptions, no distractions. Just 100% jamming music. Nothing but it. Maybe when we play at the other studio next week , it will be a more comfortable night to enjoy the room and relax a little. Anyway it's better cause the LKE manager who was going to hear us play can't make it to the SIR gig but will probably be there next week. What are you going to do?
