Playing With Meaning Keeping the Droning Outside

Drew was back this week with us and so was Andy. New to the group was my new 2016 Gibson SG w/p90s. I never had a guitar with P90's pickups in them, so I figured the SG platform was a good was to check them out. This was my first week with the guitar and it felt good of the jam. Not because of me, but the band, the guitar and music seemed pretty easy to play, maybe with the exception of the Cumberland and a few other isolated places. Overall, it fit nicely in the mix in both the format set when I was playing rhythm and the 3-song second set where I was playing Jerry.

The was a rare Friday the 13th jam as rain on Wednesday night scared us into playing on Friday the 13th. The only thing scary was the onslaught of unknown drones and unidentified flying objects in the skies over the tai-state area, especially directly over my home in Morris County, NJ. It is a crazy new work we are leaving in 2024 to enter into 2025 in the upcoming weeks. Hold onto your seats cause we're about to go for the ride of our lives. Alien drones is just the beginning. Despite all the hyperbole, nothing bad happened only good. Friday meant Andy was around for longer than a weekday jam. The 55-minute 6-song medley at the end of the first set was enough to knock anyone out of the park, so it was "see ya" to 2024 for Andy. It was a good way to end. Sugar Magnolia. It is fitting.

Freak Out!
