Second Set

  • Feel Like a Stranger
  • Goin Down the Road.
  • St. Stephen
  • All Along the Watch Tower
  • Comes a Time

The date of the next jam is scheduled for Thursday, May 17, 2001 at at Carroll's Instrument Rental on 41st street between 8th & 9th Avenues but very close to 9th., 8pm - 12pm

Except for Andy T. and Scott., the whole band was there at Carroll's.  Tefillin Ken was there for a few early songs, but short of that, there was no one else in the room. Johnny was a no show and Kevin faded into a no show by the end of the night.  Rich played drums during one song and I never saw him back there and it was really good.  I played drums during the Goin' Down the Road and felt terrible during the whole thing.

We did a lot of dreadful fairly inefficient rehearing of the Unbroken Chain and to my surprise we were able to battle the whole way through it although some of the 5/3 timing had to be wrong.  Will have to wait for Andy to help straighten us out on it.  Nevertheless, as a band we never did so well with it before.

We had a terrible ending to the Stranger after a good song.  I think most of the music was okay. Kevin was a weakling for the night and amazingly so, he was the softest one in the room.  It the first weak I tried taping with the Nomad Jukebox.  We will see how that goes.  As a matter of fact, I'm signing off now to download the songs via USB port and to get to work on them.  A real time save in my vineless universe I live.  There was a cool foggy moon on the way home from a traffic ridden Thursday jam.

Till next Thursday.  Can't wait till we start playing Tuesday again.

Brave are the souls whom attempt Unbroken Chain. All I can say is I'm glad I was not there for the rehersal. Unlike Rickey's hitting streak, my personal streak of never witnessing Deadstein rehearse or practice anything, sad as it is, is alive!

the DEADSTEIN VINE PART DEUX:

sorry for my fat fingers...Here is the addy for my website: http://www.geocities.com/angiesman/

Here is how it works: One of you picks a show from my list. Andy gives me the appropriate # of blank discs. I burn the show, and give those discs to Larry Brent. He takes them home and makes a copy of the sohw using his own discs. He brings my seeds in, gives them to Gindoff, who repeats the process. Gind gives them to Scotty, who does the same and gives them to Rich Brotman. he burns em, and then gives them to Andy who keeps em. By the 5th week, everyone is burning anf receiving a show, and Andy is getting his blanks back, but they are filled with music. EACH and EVERY WEEK. You all have to decide the order in which you pick. EVERY BODY picks so you each have an influence on the music and eachother (Brotman loves 1968 and 69, trister want music in the last 30 yr...Brent wants the retirement shows from 1974, Larry Gindoff wants to own all the Sailor>sts, etc etc etc.

ANDY, go to staples and buy a "spindle" of 100 X80 min CDR. This will keep you in discs the rest of the yr, and save you some $$.

i call 8.10.82 banjo. How about we invite another drummer if the kit is going to be set up anyway. I'm sure there is someone we can all enjoy playing with. As far a rehearsal goes, while it was way further then deadstein has ever gone rehearsing, I think we were all LEARNING the song. just my 2 cents. lets go tuesdays!!!!!!

It sure is great to have a name that begins with a "B". Tommyh, I'll go with the 9/20/70 Fillmore East. If there's a problem with that, I'd be happy with 2/11/70 Fillmore East which should have a killer Hard To Handle. Since that is only 1 CD according to your list, you can piggy-back it with 9/19/70 Fillmore East which is also a single CD.

No Rich, it is your call. WE only have to skip Larry Brent, cause he already has the show. Nice choice btw, this is a recent upgrade: 3 cassette masters off of the Revox reel, and the greatest acoustic set the boys ever did, imo.

one drummer 2-nite. Steady Dave is the man! see you at 8, unless you are joining us for dinner at the Cottage noodle shop where the food is delicious.
