Everyone was there but Andy who was
missed. It had a feeling of potentially being the last night of Deadstein but it
looks like we found a place to forge ahead with on 41st Street. A sleepy Johnny was
there and so were two of Scott's employees, Sonny and Lee. It was the last night a
Vinny's as they are to close down. The room felt good to me as I had my amp pointing
from the front stage towards my face and the drums. I was still feeling good from my
pos hangover I had from Saturday with Kevin jamming at John Spitz's house playing with the
Wind. Many of us ate at the corner Bistro which was okay but it gave me instant squirts. I thought I would share that with you all. |
Name: Brotpen CommentsI thought we put forth some of our finest musical moments as a farewell to Vinny's. Kudos to Tommy for finding new digs. Then play on... Name: Scott CommentsWell, we were 90% in attendance and was great to see and play with ALL. I don't know what was in the Ginds burger, I was fine. I think it was the lrg. black java he drank b/4 the jam. Thanks TB for setting up next weeks jam. Name: tbanjo CommentsHow you Doin? I am fine....Corner Bistro is where all the smokers and beef eaters have gone: packed, and without the fanfare...remember that old skit on SNL cheeboiger! cheeboiger! chip! chip! pepsi! pepsi! well you get the idea. missed Andy, but LB was in fine form..we were loud, raucous, and unforgiving to the music that the Dead put down all those yrs! Special guest Lee sat in on CC Rider, and EVERYTHING WAS ALRIGHT. Yes, it is true...Kevin at Carroll's Instrument Rental and Rehearsal Studio is excited to work with us after I explained our work schedule and our need for a home. All the amps at no cost, an acoustic GRAND piano on the room, and 2 drum kits (1 of those costs). This place was off the list but was reccommended in the same breath as SIR by another studio. Debbie who works with Kevin says the room can hold 20! So, either we are in a Racketball Court, or, we have found a big place to stretch out, and twirl. It is not as cheap as Vinny's, but not as expensive as SIR.....what happens when we get there? I DO NOT KNOW! Name: dave s Commentsmmmm unforgiving...but did we get a good critique? Name: tbanjo CommentsBy unforgiving, I mean we sometimes slap it around like we are so comfortable with it; we own it. Name: Steele CommentsJohhny Freak - I want you either playing or sleeping inside that baby grand my special friend. Happy Bday to Kevin - the greatest guy in the world! Steele Name: LB CommentsHow about some colors. My friend Hal from rainbow Puddle lights in SF would like to throw us some lights on Tuesday. Of course I said sure Name: scott CommentsA hot spacey set list, trippy light show, digital cam corder, tripod, I'm ready. Will we be 100% this week? See ya Tuesday. When we come in, we check the board and see if we are on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor. I got a call from "Ray" on friday. I assumed (probably wishful thinking) that we all would have wedges. {Unfortunately, they are $20 apiece}..they will throw 2 up front for the singers) Name: julie from the loveboat Commentshere is where we will be eating tomorrow night at 6PM. 9th ave bet 37th & 38th street Cafeteria Style EXCELLENT FOOD Italian Manganaro's Italian Grocery & Restaurant. Name: Trister CommentsHey Larry the guest book has been down for a long time now. Is LB referring to the cost of food at the Italian rest. or is there some other meaning? Name: tbanjo Commentsyes, Larry, to what are you referring? The evenning's entertainment will run around $250 for the room. I also decided to bring down my camera and tripod for this gig.
