Back Together and Sounding Great

This 2-19-25 jam was one of those experiences for me where pretty much how it felt and sounded in the room is what landed on tape. Kevin was quick to indulge my request for A list stuff so Plenty of tasty renditions emerged: Half Step, Stranger, Minglewood, a nice Desolation Row, a cool meandering Birdsong that was gliding rather easily... a lovely He's Gone with terrific vocal scat stuff in the outro that took a weird turn into let it grow, which had a big beautiful jam. Ramble on Rose stood out as well. I think when Rich plays with the acoustic piano sound, it mixes in nicely and he seems to enjoy the playing all the more. Trister on the Fender is a no-brainer. I noticed Larry did not have his Gibson oh well.

The second set stuff was fun too Larry had Skull and Roses on the brain so we ran through a bunch of that including a really fun Johnny B Goode. I felt pretty comfortable most of the night thought the grooves w/Lee were pretty easy and effortless. Less is more back there for both of us. This music sounds like there's a lot going on so the instinct is to play a lot in order to be in that space... But the reality is it's six or seven guys making that racket so the idea is to play 1/6 or 1/7 as much of what you might hear and feel. And yeah, I think that translates to the recordings. we're lucky... In all, This was a joyous, fulfilling and spirited experience that emerges from absolutely nothing. How is that possible? Fkn freak out.

Excellent write up provided by Drew. Thanks for the help.
