Next Jam: Wednesday August 6, 1997.

Kevin's None Setlist
Notes:
  • Welcome To William Weiss. The resiliency of Deadstein shined tonight. We transitioned out of Dennis and into William Weiss just like a Swiss watch. Like a China/Rider, Scarlet/Fire, Abbott & Costello into Bowery Boys, you get the point.
  • You have to give Scott credit for pulling it all together and taking care of us.
First Set Comments:
  • Uncle John's was the only song of the first set. It worked. The vocals were unacceptable but what do you expect when you go from hundreds of pounds of speakers and other stuff to Larry's little Peavy guitar amp. To be honest with you, I never heard an amp with 2 mics plugged into it sound so good. The final jam on it was very long, spacey and without too much purpose. I thank we were just all happy to realize what we were doing and where we were.
Half Time Comments:
  • Bens Deli: open till 9:30
  • Many briskets with gravy. I don't know about the briskets but the gravy was very thick and un-called for. I had pastrami and corned beef.
  • Knish was soggy, fries were like Nathan's and very good. Best thing about the place.
  • Dr. Brown's variety. So long Snapple. What's up Doc?
  • In the end, literally, I don't like Ben's. It's just a little too sickening and just not that good. I really feel a bit ill from that place. Both times.
Second Set Comments: Brrp! Ahhh! Help me! Are we really going to play? Boy it's cold in the studio. I want dessert! What are we going to cut out? Shit, I wished I washed my hands. My eye is bulging out of my socket. Damn us to Hell!
  • He's Gone was nice. It was much scopier than the Uncle John's. It almost. We had a nice jam before and after it.
  • The Truckin was pretty good. The intro was muffed but the song was hot and we did a five round final jam build-up. Two more than the norm. It was a way to wake up the sleeping asbestos. It had a pretty long, drawn out last jam.
Weather:
  • CloudsIt was very comfortable in our new setting. The only problems were the new vibrations causing the asbestos to become unsettled. The air was thick in there and I didn't like it. It was the worst thing about the room.
    General Comments
Talk it up. Be nice. please say something or I will loose my desire to write these things up. Fill in the deatils, the fun little stories that I cannot remember. The little things like Allison calling exactly as the last note of the first set ends

Well, like the Israelites and Chuck Berry we have entered the Promised Land and it's good. Scottso was beaming like a proud father (of a freak, God bless 'em). The limitless potential of the future will bring us into the Golden Era in the evolution of Deadstein. It's exciting, I feel like Peter Minuit surveying the virgin wilderness of Manhattan, and imagining the Chrysler building and Sabrett hot dog carts. Even with all the equipment deficiencies, it sounded good while we were playing. The tapes also sounded really good (although I only got China/Rider->Mr. Charlie). Brotman sounded great, I love the new sounds, I could finally hear him (I won't miss the Hammond). Big bass drum Menaker is back. Freakboy doesn't change, he was inexcusably late and gave us an insulting 37% effort. C'mon wake up and smell the patchouli Toastington!! On the other hand Spillboy was cooperative and successful in all his tasks; tapes, drinks, reconnaissance. Good work. The rest of us performed as expected, without a hitch and seemingly effortlessly (just like a Dell). It looks like smooth freaking ahead. Woo.

Kevy, I think the term Toastington (being a term of endearment) helped ease the pain from your somewhat stinging yet somewhat well deserved remarks. I very much appreciated the five-round final jam build-up during the Truckin'. It prolongs and intensifies the action. The music in general was of a high Deadstein like quality. It was true Deadstein. It was good to have Rich Brotman and Spillboy there for our first jam at Scotty's. It is our first jamming spot that we can truly call our own. If Scott doesn't mind. And I don't think he does. I find that dancing surface fantastic. It enables me to pull off steps that were unattainable on Dennis' carpet. The room is actually huge. It might be interesting to explore the room soundwise and point the speakers and amps towards the outer portions of the room (i.e. the staircase).

remarks.

Three deadstein cheers for Scotty. He pulled off the unthinkable. Enabling Deadstein to outdo our previous Sanctuary of Dennis. Kind Scotty Gibson, the beloved Jerry kid who provides peace and happiness for those who dwell in his environs.

I hope everyone enjoyed the first jam on 38th street the way I did? The room will eventually be designed and kept the way we want it. A few kinks to be worked out ie: Parking, security, telephone/visitor alert, etc..... The room came together very quickly , and without any downtime for our jam. With that I thank you all. And one last thing!!!!!! COSMIC CHARLIE !!!! Come on home your mama's calling you.

A very interesting first evening. We certainly got the jitters out quickly. Just wait till we have some more of the comforts of home. As far as the Cosmic Charlie even Jerry said that song was too hard to play!!

After years of sitting on hard cold metal chairs, I think it's wonderful to recline on a cushioned seat. (Won't Passover be special!)

I hear Freakboy is upset about the lack of posting. If you check the last night of Ganesvoort securityofficefurn.com/dstein/ds072497.htm you will see that Mitch Spitz chirped in.
