Back to carroll's without Rich

With Rich on the road, we had no keyboards to support the band. It also left me to sing all the vocals except for the help Scott who is still nursing a healing shoulder. This left Lee to plays drums solo as he has been doing for much of the past year. Soon Scott will be back in full force. Rounding out the group was Kevin, Alan and I.

Without the keyboards the sound of the band had a nice sparceness to it that provided an almost vintage sound of some sort. At the beginning of the night I through a loop to everyone by going into the Supplication out of the Uncle John's. You would think that would be a indication of a crazy night ahead, but it wasn't. It ended up being a fairly non-jammy night, focusing on individual songs. Had more of a Garcia Band feel to it rather than the Grateful Dead with lots of Bob Dylan songs being played. Rich should be back next week and Deadstein once again should almost be in full force. Don't be surprised if you find a drum machine based set established for next week. "Freak out!"
