The last minute cancellations by Kevin and Rich, as well as the planned absence of Andy, left a quartet of Larry, Dave, Scott and I to uphold our Freaky tradition.  For the most part we held it up well as we play energetically through the finish line.  If it weren't for the inevitable cramp in Scott's leg we may still be playing.  Our Freakboy was there and Sonny stayed and listened and broke bread with us for the entire night.

It was a night of themes.  We went from 1974 to dinner to me on bass through the Other Ones.   We finished up with Garband into Dylan and closing with some old classics.  It felt good and shockingly enough, we never lost our focus or drive to play.

It was a very wet and rainy day and night.  Lots of flooding and water to contend with.

Out of respect to the experience, I had a ham & cheese omelet on a cheeseburger for dinner (w/FF well-done, and clam chowder). I also made sure I touched all of Allison's food before she ate.

Very good Kevin, We missed you and your burps of low, loud notes. In your absence, Johnny pre-touched all the slices for us. For the record it was a round, normal pie, that Johnny was opposed to. It just doesn't hold the heat as well and doesn't have a real crust.

Is a band a band when no one is there to hear them play? Not only do we belong on that list, we belong at the top, as longas I don't play a Me & My Uncle with a F#m in it. Real Dead bands don't do that. Just us freaks.

As it turns out LK is playing tomorrow and I'll miss that show but tonight made up for it. Sun Microsystems rented a rooftop in downtown Atlanta and threw the most awesome party. Blues Traveler played through sunset and I had my hand on the stage right in front of big John. Sun setting behind the band over the city, free beer all over the place and maybe a thousand people there. It was unbelievable.

I had an unfortunate experience last night. As a true Met Fan I have had a perfectly clean history of never stepping foot in that other stadium in that wonderful neighborhood in the Bronx. My friend had box seats two rows off the field in the hole behind third base with preferred parking passes so I became a Boston fan for the night. What a great time I had...and no jackasses threw beer on me as I stood up and waved Variteck's upper deck job into the night. The fans were actually pretty cool about it. By the way, what the hell is wrong with those people in the right field bleachers?

Enjoy some of my new artwork. I picked up a copy of the DVD of the Dead at Alpine Valley 1989 and have been capturing those images from the DVD and then I use them as a base to trace an oil painting. Pretty cool looking, huh? The hard thing was the fact that you cannot get images from DVD's because of encryption but there was this cool player cracked by the Russian Mod Squad that gives me this ability. Enjoy it while it lasts.
