The webhost we now use to host Deadstein is Lunarpages.com. They have given us great service since we have been using them for the past 2 or three months. They all of a sudden in late May 2007 the started harassing Deadstein.com about hosting copyrighted material.

In actuality, I remember seeing that the company, LunarPages.com, was recently purchased by someone else who promised the same great service. As a matter of fact they even increased the storage of the account I have. They increased the storage from 250GB to 350GB. I was thinking, great a company that has storage to spare. Boy was I wrong, they have storage to spare if you are willing to give you blood sweat and tears. They have made me removed all the copyrighted MP3 files, which I did, they weren't even assessible on a webpage, ironic as it turns out. In addition, they made me modify Deadstein.com to reference on a webpage a link to all the MP3 files stored on the site. In the end this was a blessing because it forced me to figure out how to do this. Now when MP3 files are posted, the website will be able to read the file names and make links to the files directly on the jam pages. This is pretty cool and something that will imediately improve the working of the site.

Provided below is the communication with LunarePages.com regarding this matter. It always seems so easy to to make up a website, but there always something to deal with.

May 28th 2007 04:24:23 Dear Support: In response to your request to remove the copyrighted material I have removed all copyrighted material from the website. The only remaining mp3s in the folder and the website are generated by live recordings of my band itself (Deadstein). Please contact me if you have additional questions on this matter but I trust this satisfies your request. Thank you, Larry Gindoff

May 29th 2007 10:23:05 Hello Larry, Can you please provide the URL to a page on your site that uses files from the /home/deads3/public_html/audio folder. Thank you for your quick attention to this matter. If you have any questions or concerns we will gladly assist you. Have a great day. -- If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us. Best Regards, Stas Grichkosey

May 30th 2007 07:37:24 The URL that access MP3s in the /home/deads3/public_html/audio folder is: http://deadstein.com/multimedia.asp. The database that feeds this page still needs to be updated to eliminate links to the few copyrighted files that were previously there, but the mp3s are removed so an URL page error occurs if someone tries to select a non-existant MP3. There is no dedicated page that provides links to all the MP3s. We generally use this /home/deads3/public_html/audio folder to upload recordings of jam session of my band (Deadstein) for band memeber to download. I therefore don't have html based links set up to all the MP3s. I hope this helps. Contact me if you need anything else. Larry Gindoff

Jun 1, 0007 4:25 PM Hi, During a recent audit on the endor server we noticed some disk spaced being used on your account that does not appear to be utilized for your website(s) operational purposes. As per our Terms of Service and our Acceptable use Policy shared server space is for business and personal website operations purposes only and not for unrelated data storage. It appears to us that the files located in the path below are unrelated data storage: /home/deads3/public_html/audio Unless you are able to inform us how these files are in fact required for the functionality of your website we will have to ask that you please remove them from the server. Due to the large amount of space this unrelated data storage is taking up on the server we will need this done within the next 24 hours. If we do not hear back from you we will have to compress the files and store them for you to download. This download will be available for a total of 5 days. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. -- Best Regards, Sarwan Singh Jassi JSAI-System Administrator Team support@lunarpages.com

Jun 1, 2007 6:03 PM Dear Support: In response to your question regarding the storage of files on the website not related to the website please understand this explanation. Deadstein.com is a website for Deadstein, a my personal non-commercial band and we use the website for our band to keep a history, tell friends about us and to post, download and listen to recording we make of our music. By the way, Terez is an off-shoot of this band, it is the only other non-Deadstein music I have posted on the website. We play music once a week and generate lots of recordings. These are hisotrical reference recordings of the band Deadstein on the site for access primarily by band members, since member from the public are unlikely to want to listen to us, but its posted in an easy way to for band members to access it. Please note this link below where I access the MP3s of some of these these recordings. http://deadstein.com/multimedia.asp I let users know at the bottom of most pages that they can access any of the music in the entire collection with a link to www.Deadstein.com/audio. This music and these recordings are integral to Deadstein and Deadstein.com. I think it is no different than a company making all old manuals available for all products old and/or new available on a website even if no one ever accesses them. The point is they may want to access these files at some point, and when that point comes, the files should be there. Please contact me right away regarding this response and what I assume will be a positive resolution to this matter. Larry Gindoff

Jun 3, 2007 11:48 AM Dear Customer, After further reviewing we have noticed that some part of your mp3s from this folder /home/deads3/public_html/audio are not referenced from an html page. You must have each of those mp3s referenced from an html page for it to be related to the operations of his website. Please, update your http://deadstein.com/multimedia.asp page or remove mp3s. If you have any further questions we will gladly assist you. Thank you.

Jun 3, 2007 1:52 PM Daer Support: Does it have to be from an HTML page, or is an ASP page good enough? Larry Gindoff

========================================

Jun 3, 0007 4:54 PM Dear Customer, It doesn't matter what it will be .. HTML or ASP or anything else. The goal is to have those mp3s referenced from a web page. Please, let us know if you have any further questions. Thank you. -- If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us. Best Regards, Valery Grichkosey
